First of all I’d like to say sorry to all those who have lost their loved ones because of typhoon Ondoy. If you guys want to help out and share your blessings these links here you might wanna check out. Thank you!

So…I have not blogged for almostĀ  three weeks! I have been so busy with work, my studies and activities with the Singles for Christ and the Iloilo Bloggers that I have neglected my blog. Anyway I’m here to welcome October! Can you believe it? The days are just passing by so fast. And I’m getting chubbier too. :D I really need to diet diet diet and exercise! And I’m also here to recount the things that I’ve done last September.

Last September 21st, the Iloilo Bloggers met for the third time at Joey’s Pizzeria. Contrary to what I’ve heard, Joey Pizzeria’s pizzas are actually yummy! Yes yummy. Lol. We discussed about our activities for the upcoming Iloilo IT Week Celebration and some of our plans for the group. And I also met more members of the org that day. As well as Junelle’s cute babies – Hannah and Hector.

And last September 28th I attended Ms. Janette Toral‘s SEO Workshop. I only know basic SEO stuff so I’m grateful for all the stuffs that Ms. JT taught us that day , err I mean night. I’ll be using the tips I’ve learned one thing at a time until I get better at SEO. It’s really useful for my line of job too. Again thank you Ms. Janette!

Then the next day, September 29th I went to Robinson’s Place to check out the lectures and exhibits of the Iloilo IT Week Celebration. The Iloilo Bloggers were also given the chance to have lunch with Ms. JT, Ms. Aileen Apollo, and Jay de Jesus. Thanks to Green Mango and Marcos for the lunch! The food was totally awesome and I’ll definitely have lunch their again. Affordable too. ;) We went back to Robinson’s later in the afternoon to listen to Ms. JT and Ms. Aileen’s lectures. Thanks to them more students now know about blogging and Google Adsense. Hopefully our group – the Iloilo Bloggers – will have more members soon. And I’d also like to thank Nang Claire for being patient with us. Kaya ta na Nang next time ah!

So that’s it, I still have to pack for my Hinigaran trip tomorrow. Tim, Sis Mira, Bro Art and I are attending the Singles for Christ’s Western Visayas Regional Conference.

I’ll leave you with this photos. Enjoy!

boracay_palm_trees1 I’m writing this post just for the key word and see if how many people will stumble upon my blog if I rant about Boracay!

Anyway,we’re going to the beach! And not just the beach but the best beach in the Philippines! We’re actually going to Boracay! It’s the place to really hang out and chill, have fun with friends because it’s bursting with life! Just what I need! LOL

I will be going with Sev (my brother), Dianne (Sev’s girl and of course Tim (who else?!).

The best thing about my work is that you can do it anywhere as long as you have a laptop or computer with internet connection. So I’ll be working while vacationing. Not bad. I”m thinking of it as having a vacation while working not the other way around. Haha.

Although I’m not sure if I could write once I’m there. Go figure!

I’m so excited! Right now I’m just finishing all my tasks for the day so I won’t have to worry or think about anything later. Peace of mind is the key to a peaceful and satisfying vacation.

2 more hours to go and I’ll be gone!

Goodbye Grey’s Anatomy, I’ll be back!

We’re gonna have fun fun fun!

And this is completely off topic but I just don’t like people who doesn’t like Taylor Swift. Geesh I’m such a kid. LOL.

Well I’m out! Will blog about our vacation when I come back home and take some photos so I could make all you guys jealous and therefore make you all go on vacation too!

On Saturday will be Mamang’s birthday and we might go to Punta Villa too so we have to be back before that. And on Sunday Manny Pacquiao will make us proud again and we will be watching the fight at SM City Cinema for more fun fun fun!

I have a great life don’t I? ;)

The Art of Self-Promotion – 5 PR Tips

I am an oDesk member so I usually get newsletters in my email from them. I found this very useful article earlier so I decided to repost it here in my blog with the proper linkbacks of course. Hope nobody sues me for doing this. LOL

Public relations-that’s when giant corporations pay someone to explain away their massive oil spill, right? Or when movie stars hire a fancy agency to get them on magazine covers? Well, sure, but when you boil it down, PR is the art of getting your message-and yourself-favorable attention in pursuit of your goals. Your goal is to advance your career, and there are ways to promote yourself without using Angelina Jolie’s “people.” Here are five ways:

1. Maintain a professional blog and offer valuable content to your target clients.

Do some research and come up with unconventional conclusions. Check out free, easy-to-use blog platforms such as typepad.com and blogger.com. And we can’t emphasize this enough-spellcheck before you post, and post with some regularity! Need help setting up a professional-looking blog? Trade services with a talented friend-or use oDesk to hire a WordPress expert or graphic designer for a quick project.

2. Website. Website. Website!

It’s easy, inexpensive and pretty much the minimum of professionalism in most fields. Take advantage of the tons of free tools and tutorials to build and maintain a web presence. Link back to your oDesk profile using one of the customized links so people can easily review your profile and hire you (do the same on your blog!). Need help? Trade services with a friend who knows web design or is a skilled writer who can edit your resume and other copy. Failing that, find that help on oDesk.

3. Be social.

Promote your online presence through social media. Create a free Facebook page that’s suitable for professional consumption (add that oDesk referral link!). Let your network know that you’re available to do work. Use a free Twitter account to send good information to friends and colleagues, keeping yourself in their minds when they need to get the job done. Tweet about professional information, news and good resources-no irritating “Mmm … cheeseburger” clutter. Follow twitters of other professionals in your field to stay on top of trends and news and involved in the conversation.

4. Make yourself the expert.

Conduct research and write an article or presentation about something unique in your professional field. Put it on your blog and Facebook page and tweet about it. PowerPoint it for free posting on SlideShare.com. Link it all to your oDesk profile. Have your friends and professional network Digg it to drive traffic.

5. Leave a comment.

Wherever potential clients might be following the professional conversation, get your voice in there. Post your reaction, with a link back to your site or blog, on blog posts and news articles in your field. Do not just say “good article!” or “I agree!” Have something salient to add, showing that you’re a smart professional who follows developments and synthesizes new conclusions. And run that spellcheck before you start throwing around “salient” and “synthesize.”

You work hard, you polish your skills, you know your stuff-now make sure as many people as possible know it!
