Want to document my plans and goals for this year here in my blog. Will look at this by the end of the year to see if I did accomplish everything – which I plan to.

1. Be healthy and go back to being slim. I’m looking for Yoga classes here in Iloilo and and then I’m going to enroll. Start exercising everyday. Be healthy. I am getting heavier and it’s quiet alarming. I now officially have an undeniably awful-looking paunch (which Tim points out to me everyday). I want to get rid of it as soon as possible because I can’t fit into my old clothes anymore (and which is a waste because I have so many old clothes!) I want to fit into my old clothes! And every time we have our photo ops I find it really hard to hide the paunch. LOL. So I have finally started dieting. No more chocolates, cakes, ice creams, curls  and junk food for me now. Well maybe just once a week. LOL. I won’t binge anymore. I will only eat when I’m hungry. I will only eat “on time.” I don’t wanna be chubby anymore. Hehehe.

2. Learn to speak, read and write in Spanish. I’m learning how to write and speak in Spanish along with Tim. I am starting to get serious in this stuff. I’m trying to learn a phrase or two everyday. Tim’s bought a book. I’m studying online. We want to speak acceptable Spanish by the end of the year. We love and adore the Spanish language. Not only is it a romantic language, it’s also widely spoken around the world. And it’s a part of our heritage.  My goodness our family names are in fact Spanish if you’ve noticed. My Lola Mamang knows how to speak Spanish. I love listening to people speak that language. Me and Tim want to be linguists. It’s our dream.  :)

3. Enroll at CAP College. I am going back to school this year! Yes you read it right. My second ultimate dream, one of the things I want to achieve/fulfill before I die – will finally be put in motion this year. Hopefully there won’t be any hitches. I’m not listening to any discouragements from anyone. I plan to continue my studies while working at the same time. But wait, before anyone gets the wrong idea, just wanna clear up that I do love and enjoy my job! I mean who wouldn’t? Nothing beats working at home. :)   And honestly I earn more than you, if not you then the person next to you (this applies only to people living in the Philippines. LOL) And there are many out there who have degrees but still don’t have jobs, or if they do have jobs they’re not happy with it or usually it’s not related to the degree they’ve finished.  It’s just that I really want to finish college and get that hard-to-get diploma. It’s like an obsession to me. Just so everyone knows, I plan to enroll at CAP College the pioneer in Distance Education here in the Philippines. CAP College was patterned after the “open university” concept of education which is already well-established and widely accepted in more advanced countries of Europe, Australia, Canada, the United States and Asia. If anyone wants to learn more about CAP College just click here. Mamang suggested this college to me. And I know going to school at CAP College won’t interfere with my work. In fact it will actually help me with my work. I feel that it would be much much better for me if I enroll at CAP College instead of enrolling at the universities and colleges here in Iloilo. Aside from just learning my degree here at home and online, with a little person to person interaction which will only be during final examinations, I know that I will learn a lot more than those students who physically go to school and sit at classrooms and listen to other people talk.  I don’t have anything against teachers (my mother is a teacher) but for me I learn a lot better if I study by myself, not by listening to other people talk or by doing assignments and reports. I had more than one professor who just assigned reports to us for the whole semester and then just sat in the back of the classroom and listened to me and my classmates’ reports (so what happened was me and my classmates were teaching each other and all the professors did was just kinda supervise us giving a little input here and there). In fact, I think distance learning is a lot better. We get to really learn and study whether we like it or not — at our own pace. Then we will really deserve the grades we get, not because of some professor or teacher’s judgement or whim. This is MY opinion so if anyone disagrees – I don’t really care. In my point of view, everyone should earn their degrees through distance learning instead. Wanna know why I said that? Feel free to ask me. My reasons will be more understandable if you talk to me, not by just reading it here.  :)

4. Be an active member of the CFC Singles for Christ. Right now every Sunday you will find me not only with Tim but also together with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I am building a blog for them now using WordPress too. I also want to help our less privileged brothers and sisters not only here in Iloilo but also in other places. I also want to help spread God’s words and God’s love not only to young people like me but also to everyone who will listen. Being with the SFC will help me fulfill my dream of helping others. See I’m not really a selfish person. :)

That being said, I have an awful lot of things to do this year. This stuffs will keep me very busy. But it’s better to be busy than not right? I have a life, unlike other people. LOL. I am currently researching more about the things I need to enroll at CAP College then I’m planning to accomplish and gather all the requirements needed so I could finally enroll and start studying. All these I will do while I’m also working. I will send myself to school. I will be paying for my tuition fee. So I better study well and hard. Then next year I will start fulfilling my dream of having my own virtual assistance company. Nothing is impossible right? I thank the Lord for all the blessings I have received. And for all the blessings to come. Hope He will help me in my journey of fulfilling my dreams.

birthday-girl Wow! I’m going to be a year older on the 15th! I can’t believe I’m OLD! Five days before the big day…

I haven’t written anything lately. It’s not because I’m too busy but because I didn’t have internet connection for a week. Can you believe it? A WEEK?!! Imagine the damage it did to my daily tasks. I hated SmartBro so bad last week that I kept calling their dumb CSRs. Those people don’t know how to handle their customers on the phone. I guess being an ex-call center agent makes me way too critical of them. But sorry guys from Smart, I just don’t like you.

I went to Antique last February 1st to attend my  Lola’s 76th Birthday. My Lola has a lot of Priest friends. Hehe. I had fun and bonded with my cousins. We went to the beach and took a dip even though it was freezing. Aling and I stayed in the water for only like 10-15 minutes. We took so many photos of ourselves and I’m going to post them here and at my Friendster account as soon as I finish resizing them all. I really should start utilizing my Flicker account for this.

Then last Saturday, February 7th was our Lord’s Day. Tim and I are officially full-pledged members of the CFC Singles for Christ Oton Chapter! We had a great celebration. After the prayers and dinner we had a program where each group had to present an intermission number. There were just 13 of us left so we split into 2 groups. The other group presented an acoustic number and we also did the same thing – except the other group got to practice while we did not. We sucked but we didn’t care because we had fun and we enjoyed it! I also did a song number with my brother – Sev. We sang Linkin Park’s “Leave Out All The Rest.” It’s a song from the movie Twilight. He played the guitar. Toto sings very well while I was a nervous wreck and I kinda like sang out of tune most of the time. Hehehe. But still I don’t care because I was having fun! All I can say is that being a part of the Singles for Christ is so much better that being with the Youth for Christ!

And here’s the best part – my bebeh was appointed by Sis Baby as the participants’ official spokesperson. Hehehe. FYI – the participants were us- the Singles for Christ hopefuls and Sis Baby was a part of the SFC Service Team. Tim’s task was to be the one who’ll give a short speech about basically his experiences during the Christian Life Program, his realizations and to give thanks to everyone. To the SFC Service Team, the Brothers and Sisters from the Couples for Christ who helped them particularly Bro. Joebert Toledo whose the SFC Coordinator, Bro. DeeGee Paredes and everyone who made the CLP a success. I know for a fact that my bebeh is a “shy” person and he doesn’t usually do public speaking (although he tells me that he did give speeches when he was in high school). But my bebeh surprised me and he made me proud. Because not only did he make the best speech EVER (love you beh.. :-*) but he was also really confident in delivering it. Everyone laughed at his “metaphorical jokes” (he makes a lot of that all the time with me :D ) and listened to every word he said (at least that’s what I observed). I’m just so proud of my bebeh.

Well that’s it guys. I’ll be making the most of my 5 days as a 23 year old girl and I’m looking forward to my birthday. The day after Valentine’s Day. :) TTYL!

This morning we attended a First Friday Mass at Callbox. I forgot the name of the priest but I didn’t forget his homily. I went with Amy and Monica. Not everyone—actually—nobody else knows that Amy and I had a “cool off” phase in our friendship except Jeffrey and Monica. I really don’t remember the reason why we drifted apart for almost 6 months (it started the week after we came back from Baras, Guimaras) but we just stopped hanging out together. Before that happened, we were always seen together during lunch and break time. If Amy eats lunch, I eat lunch too. If I go to sleep, Amy goes to sleep too. And often we just sit at the couch at the 3rd floor and just talk about random things. And oftentimes we laugh and share secrets and personal stuffs happening at home and in our lives.

Then came that fateful day when we just stopped talking to each other.  It was as simple as that. And I told Nong Jeffrey and Monica about what’s happening. And I also learned that Amy was talking to the two of them as well. So nobody else knew what was happening except the four of us. If our co-workers noticed, they didn’t ask. They were kind enough to leave us alone. What makes me happy with that kind of situation was that even if Amy and I were “not friends” we weren’t spreading rumors or bad things about each other. We weren’t gossiping about each other. And the secrets we shared were still secrets.

I’m telling you this because it relates to the priest’s homily. His topic was about love. Love for your special someone, love for your family and the love for your friends. That for love to last, you only not have to FEEL the love or THINK the love but also importantly to BE WILLING to love.  Amy and I looked at each other on this part of the homily and we just giggled. J By the way we’re friends now. We talked to each other Friday of last week. To make the story short, we just hugged each other on Saturday morning. We missed each other. And we weren’t selfish to say that. I actually shed some tears. Hehehe. But that simply means that I love my friend and I value her. We’re hanging out together now. There’s no tension between us and everything is back to normal. It’s as if nothing happened. Nong Jeffrey and Monica are happy for the both of us. Amy is such a great friend and I would hate to lose her. I hope she reads this so she’ll know how much I value her friendship and her loyalty.

Ayms! Friends forever ta ya ha

OTON, Iloilo: The Place To Be

My family and I have been living in Oton for 8 years now. We lived in Jaro, Iloilo City before but my parents decided to transfer residence because the land that our house is standing at, which was owned by the Locsin family was sold to the Iloilo government to be used as the relocation site of the squatters of Ticud, LaPaz.

I didn’t know the reasons why my parents chose Oton as our new residential address before. But now, after 8 years, I finally know why. And typhoon Frank is one of the reasons.  :)

Oton is a 20 to 30 minute ride from downtown Iloilo city so its really not that far. Its a home for the many who are seeking for fresh air to go home to; no pollution.

The police officers of Oton are actually the most reliable ones in the whole province and they’ve been awarded because of that. There’s practically no crime rate in our town. Which is good for me because I work the graveyard shift. My parents don’t worry too much because they know that I’ll be safe when I go out at night.

Best of all, Oton is on higher land thats why its not prone to floods. While the rest of Panay Island suffered much due to typhoon Frank, we only suffered power outage for a week like I’ve mentioned in my previous blog entries.

The people of Oton are also very nice, when we first moved here, we felt welcomed right away because Ogtonganons are almost always smiling and in fact its known as the “Municipality of Character.”

As Roman Catholics we were happy to know that one of the first beautiful churches in the Philippines was built here and now we’re proud parishioners of the La Immaculada  Concepcion Parish Church. My family is active in joining church activities.

There are many subdivisions in Oton, no wonder its called the residential hub of Iloilo. Basically because of  its proximity to the city and being a coastal town, we have the benefit of relishing the blessings of the sea and its beautiful beaches. The farms also give us bountiful agricultural products like rice, vegetables and fruits like watermelons(Oton grows the best!), corns, mangoes, bananas, etc.

Do I need to add more reasons why we love living in Oton? :)

Oton really is THE PLACE TO BE!

my bebeh and i love to go to different places in and out of the city (but, i can’t beat him because his job takes him to various places outside iloilo, check out his page in the future to see pictures of the places he’s been to. ^_^).

here are some of the places we frequently haunt:
Villa Rica Beach Resort in Oton

this is one of the most popular beaches in my hometown. people from the city usually come here on weekends particularly during the summer. we love to sit in the sand, watch the waves, just talk and eat the junk foods we bought from the public market or the small grocery store in town.

once i went there by myself. nag-away kami, drama ko ya eh..hehe..i got scared because i went there mga around 5 na and medyo gamay lang tao. syempre, ang mary jane nanugid sa bebeh eh nga ato ko didto kag kung pwede kadtuan nya ko kay medyo scared ko gani..hehehe..naakigan pa ko..bad mary jane! hindi na ko kuno mag-drama pareho sadto liwat..

anyway, Villa Rica Beach is a nice place to go to when we want some peace and quiet.

(pictures of Villa Rica Beach coming soon.. ^_^)
The Malls

of course my bebeh and i haunt the malls too. we either go to SM City, SM Delgado, MaryMart or Robinson’s Place. he is always up to date with the new movies even before its showing date so alert kami maglantaw.

he’s always checking out the toys section at the deparment store for toys and ek eks to bring home to his nephew (nice tito! ^_^) he seldom buys things for himself because he says he’d rather eat and buy abobots for Alex (and for Toto Hans also if he’s here. ^_^) than to indulge himself.

we play arcade games too at Game Galaxy on the 3rd floor. binata-bata nga games ah..hehe..we collect the tickets nga nadaugan namon sa games and which are now stuffed on my aparador at home. ambot anuhon ko to ky hindi pa man damu-damu para mapabayluhan na sang mga toys, etc. sa Game Gal. padamuon lang namon anay ni bebeh ah. ^_^

((pictures of the malls coming soon.. ^_^)
Plaza Oton

after going to church galagaw-lagaw man kami ni bebeh sa plaza sang Oton. we like it there because of the tall trees, canopied gazebos (which look scary because daw my mahulog nga snakes or insects anytime..hehe). pero katawhay lang sa plaza ky malamig (because of the trees) and namian si bebeh maglantaw sa mga gahampang basketball. basta, kasadya lang because damu kami makita.

(pictures of the plaza coming soon.. ^_^)
