the dream cellphone..

Yesterday my phone broke! Technically it’s not really my cellphone, it’s my brother – Vinboy’s cellphone but I’m the one whose using it because I need it more than him. I use it to communicate with everyone. And most importantly I use it for my work. My cellphone, the one I was using before I had to borrow Vinboy’s, was also broken because I wasn’t taking care of it. I mean I don’t use it properly. I charge it anytime I want even if the battery is not yet low or dead. And I leave it charging for more than 8 hours sometimes because I just leave it there while I sleep. So that’s some of the reasons why I was using my brother’s phone. And I’m really sorry I broke it. But I will try to have it fixed of course so he can still use it.

I’ve been using my old cellphone (before it broke)  for more than 2 years so I guess it’s about time that I buy myself a new one. I’ve been wanting a Nokia 6300 phone ever since I saw it online. FYI – it was the best selling cellphone in the UK  for more than a year after it was released. And it’s still one of the most well-loved phones of today. I really like slim phones so that’s why it caught my attention. And its specifications are also way up there! It’s stylish, classical and very high quality too. But I couldn’t afford it before because there were more important things than buying a new phone.

Yesterday I didn’t have a cellphone. I didn’t know what to do! I wasn’t even able to sleep. I kept thinking how I can communicate with Tim and my friends and everyone! And I couldn’t even access my Chikka account! I can’t register with other free text sites because I won’t be able to verify it without my cellphone number. Thankfully there’s the INTERNET! The joy of emailing and instant messaging. I wouldn’t have survived without it. I asked for help from my friends who were online. I asked JonhaR, Teddy and my other brother – Sev(who was in school and also thankfully online) to text Tim and inform him that I sent him an email and could he go online so we could IM as well. So around 4PM Tim finally got online. He was out traveling again so that’s what took him so long to IM me. I told him about what happened to my bro’s phone. And he suggested that I use his phone instead. To make the long story short, we asked Sev if he could pick up Tim’s cellphone after his class. Sev agreed and he arrived around 9PM with Tim’s cellphone. Then I was able to text! Tim has a spare phone  by the way, his old beat up Nokia (forgot what unit) which is still functioning.

And you know what the first message I received was? It was from Miss Lareza of Callbox’s Human Resources Department telling me that I can get my backpay the next day (which is today). I immediately thanked the Lord after reading that text! He really loves me. He doesn’t want me and my job to suffer. He has perfect timing. Or a great sense of humor. I think he wanted to test my patience and how I will handle the situation – a day without a cellphone (naks!). Just to clear things up – I’m not materialistic okay. I just need certain stuffs for my daily life.

So today, I bought myself my dream phone after getting my backpay from Callbox! I’m learning how to use it right now. And I’m loving every single part of it. It’s more than I expected. Again I thank the Lord for always making a way. And for all the blessings he has given me. I’m so blessed!

Learned this song from the Singles for Christ. I have a crush on Marty Sampson. He’s one of the Worship Leaders of Hillsong Church. I admire his faith. I admire the songs he composed. I admire his voice. I admire everything about him.

Listen to this song. I know you’ll love it too. Praise God! We’re blessed!

From The Inside Out – Hillsong

A thousand times I’ve failed
Still Your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
I’m caught in Your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing You praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame

In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart
Is to bring
You praise
From the inside out
Lord my soul cries out

In my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart
Is to bring
You praise
From the inside out
Lord my soul cries out

birthday-girl Wow! I’m going to be a year older on the 15th! I can’t believe I’m OLD! Five days before the big day…

I haven’t written anything lately. It’s not because I’m too busy but because I didn’t have internet connection for a week. Can you believe it? A WEEK?!! Imagine the damage it did to my daily tasks. I hated SmartBro so bad last week that I kept calling their dumb CSRs. Those people don’t know how to handle their customers on the phone. I guess being an ex-call center agent makes me way too critical of them. But sorry guys from Smart, I just don’t like you.

I went to Antique last February 1st to attend my  Lola’s 76th Birthday. My Lola has a lot of Priest friends. Hehe. I had fun and bonded with my cousins. We went to the beach and took a dip even though it was freezing. Aling and I stayed in the water for only like 10-15 minutes. We took so many photos of ourselves and I’m going to post them here and at my Friendster account as soon as I finish resizing them all. I really should start utilizing my Flicker account for this.

Then last Saturday, February 7th was our Lord’s Day. Tim and I are officially full-pledged members of the CFC Singles for Christ Oton Chapter! We had a great celebration. After the prayers and dinner we had a program where each group had to present an intermission number. There were just 13 of us left so we split into 2 groups. The other group presented an acoustic number and we also did the same thing – except the other group got to practice while we did not. We sucked but we didn’t care because we had fun and we enjoyed it! I also did a song number with my brother – Sev. We sang Linkin Park’s “Leave Out All The Rest.” It’s a song from the movie Twilight. He played the guitar. Toto sings very well while I was a nervous wreck and I kinda like sang out of tune most of the time. Hehehe. But still I don’t care because I was having fun! All I can say is that being a part of the Singles for Christ is so much better that being with the Youth for Christ!

And here’s the best part – my bebeh was appointed by Sis Baby as the participants’ official spokesperson. Hehehe. FYI – the participants were us- the Singles for Christ hopefuls and Sis Baby was a part of the SFC Service Team. Tim’s task was to be the one who’ll give a short speech about basically his experiences during the Christian Life Program, his realizations and to give thanks to everyone. To the SFC Service Team, the Brothers and Sisters from the Couples for Christ who helped them particularly Bro. Joebert Toledo whose the SFC Coordinator, Bro. DeeGee Paredes and everyone who made the CLP a success. I know for a fact that my bebeh is a “shy” person and he doesn’t usually do public speaking (although he tells me that he did give speeches when he was in high school). But my bebeh surprised me and he made me proud. Because not only did he make the best speech EVER (love you beh.. :-*) but he was also really confident in delivering it. Everyone laughed at his “metaphorical jokes” (he makes a lot of that all the time with me :D ) and listened to every word he said (at least that’s what I observed). I’m just so proud of my bebeh.

Well that’s it guys. I’ll be making the most of my 5 days as a 23 year old girl and I’m looking forward to my birthday. The day after Valentine’s Day. :) TTYL!

As always, the drone of my job is constantly boring me. So I try finding ways to amuse myself.  Usually what I do is I just browse the internet for useless topics like celebrity gossip, read horror stories, jokes and other people’s blogs.

But today, I found a very fascinating distraction—interpreting the DTR mottos of my co-workers, particularly the people within my department. J

Here are some of their mottos:

i had a wish that everything would turn out well in the end.. with all i have, i did what i thought was right.. i spoke words that i thought would heal and bring the truth to light.. but i fear that all i have said and done were all wrong for it seems that everything is lost.. with hopes of having a new start, instead, i brought the end.. but i still look forward to the bright side amidst hollowness and hurt, regret and self-pity.. i can only hope and wish..

It doesn’t matter what the other is being, doing, having, saying, wanting, demanding. It doesn’t matter what the other is thinking, expecting, planning. It only matters what you are being in relationship to that.

My Sunday: Faith, School, Mamang, Gloria and E-VAT

Posted on 22nd July 2008 by Mary Jane in Fixations |Religion

Yesterday was Sunday and it was my parent’s schedule to hold their weekly household prayer meeting at our home. My parents are members of Couples for Christ-Oton Chapter. I had to do a major clean-up of our house especially the living room. I had to get the dust off the furnitures, wax the floor and put everything back to their proper places. Having four younger brothers in the house and all of them going to school, imagine the mess they make. I used to clean the house everyday but these days I do it like once a week. :)

Its not because I’ve become lazy but I work at night right? So I’m already tired when I get home and I only have the strength to take a bath , brush my teeth and head off to bed. That’s why when I do have the time to clean up, its like a tornado went through our house and messed everything up. Its that BAD. :)

Anyway its worth it when I see the satisfaction and smiles on my brothers’ faces when they see the house spotless again. Although it won’t take them two days to turn the house upside down again.

At lunch, my Mamang lectured my three younger brothers about LIFE. She told them, Vinboy in particular, to study hard, finish college and find a job if they want to have their own business and if they want to be their own boss. She told the three of them also that if they want to, they could work abroad. Because the Philippines is just not the country with many opportunities anymore. She said: “Kung gusto niyo mag-asenso, skwela kamo maayo. Pangita kamo sang maayo nga obra sa sagwa sang Pilipinas. Kay hindi kamo magmanggaranon diri, gin-ubos na ni Gloria kawat ang tanan nga manggad sang Pilipinas kag wala na nabilin para sa inyo . Tapos, balik kamo diri patindog negosyo nga kamo ang boss. Para makabulig man kamo sa Pilipinas.” (If you want to succeed in life, study hard. Find a really nice job outside the Philippines because if you want to get rich, you won’t get rich if you just stay here. Because Gloria has stolen all our country’s wealth already and there’s nothing left here for you. After that come back here and put up your own business, be your own boss. In doing that you may be able to help your country too.)

Gloria by the way to those who don’t know is the first name of our president-Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. What probably triggered my Mamang’s untimely lecture is the sudden increase of the prices of everything. From food, clothing, all commodities, especially the FARE. Having 4 children who goes to school, that’s a big blow to our budget.

This is caused by the soaring prices of gasoline in the world market and it has affected everything. It would have been okay if only our salaries increased as well. So its kind of hopeless to stay in this country for my Mamang. I can’t blame her for thinking that way. Gloria should listen to the people and get rid of E-VAT. NOW! It should make things easier for all of us.

I hate to admit this but I regret voting for Gloria. I had high expectations of her. But everything has gotten worse. She still has the time to redeem herself. Please listen to the people and stop thinking only of yourself!

With all of this happening, I’m still being optimistic. I know that this things, the problems our country is facing will be over, if not soon. Filipinos are strong people, we are fighters. We’ll get over this! My friends who know me well knows that as much as possible I don’t want to work abroad. I want to stay here in our country! If I do go to other countries it would be because I’m just traveling, not because I’ll be working there. I love it here. Gloria is giving me reasons to think twice about all of my decisions, my plans. She’s making all our lives suck! I can’t help thinking that Mamang is right. (sigh)

I have to stop ranting now. I should go back to work. Damn Gloria!
