Why do I love SpongeBob? Because he’s the epitome of a true optimist! He shows his love of others with his overeagerness to do good and help people. If anything is true about SpongeBob, it is that he loves everyone around him, even if they don’t exactly love him back. So I don’t care if you think SpongeBob is gay. I love SpongeBob!
After typhoon Ondoy ravaged Manila last week, the Singles for Christ still decided to not postpone the scheduled Oct. 2-4 regional conference which was held at Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. The conference’s theme was “The Christ Pursuit.”
Even the heavy rains did not stop the SFC and CFC family from praising and worshipping God. We prayed for everyone who were affected by Ondoy and Pepeng. And we also thanked the Lord for protecting us and our families. We were enlightened during that weekend, thanks to the speakers and lecturers. Special thanks to Fr. Xavier Olin, SJ for allowing us to take a deeper look at ourselves, what our purpose in life is and why we should pursue Christ.
Here are some photos I took of the fulfilling event.
I was offline for a couple of days because we attended the CFC-Singles for Christ: FORWARD IN CHRIST Provincial Conference at Maasin, Iloilo. It was a 2-day affair which started on Saturday, June 13th and lasted until noon of Sunday, June 14th. The theme of the conference was “Every single man and woman all over the world experiencing Christ.” We got to meet a lot of brothers and sisters from all over the province of Iloilo and we also got to bond with our Oton brothers and sisters. We had fun and it was really good to know that a lot of single people are still following Christ.
Here’s an excerpt of what we learned from the conference:
TALK 3: Forward in Christ
I can now move forward because I do so IN CHRIST! I will remember the posture of Jesus’ heart
C – Catholic
H – Humble
R – Radical
I – Intercessory
S – Sacrificial
T – Togetherness
Only with Christ Jesus will I be able to move forward in the right direction, with the right attitude and with sufficient LOVE.
I know I haven’t blogged for 2 weeks now. It has been a couple of hectic weeks. What with my brothers getting sick and some urgent stuffs to finish at work. I’m going to postpone writing about our Boracay vacation for now to give way to my Kabankalan escapade.
Last Saturday, 23rd of May, I finally got the chance to go to Kabankalan. Tim’s hometown. I went there along with my little brother Rino John and Tim of course. I got to meet Tim’s parents for the 3rd time and his sisters the first time (except for Dainah because we met a couple of times in the past when she went here to Iloilo). We stayed there until the 26th so that’s about 4 days and 3 nights. I loved Kabankalan! Not only did Tim’s family and relatives welcome us in their homes but they also gave us a tour of the city. I didn’t know that they have a palace-like city hall. You have to see it to believe it. It looks more expensive than our Capitol actually., honest. And Kabankalan is a very clean city. They have clean streets. Yes I know Iloilo is also clean but Kabankalan’s cleaner. Maybe its because Kabankalan is still more a rural city than urbanized. Their cathedral is also a lovely structure. It won’t rival Jaro Cathedral but still it’s a beautiful place to worship the Lord. We heard Mass there last Sunday.
But seriously, I enjoyed my stay there. I got to meet Tim’s wonderful family and that’s all that matters. I think I got chubbier too, gained a few pounds. Because all we did there was eat and eat and I’m blaming Tita Warlit because of that. Haha! She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable at their home along with Tito Ledo and we really appreciate it. When we arrived on the 23rd it was Ken – Tim’s cousin’s birthday. And then on the 25th was Hans – Tim’s nephew’s birthday. So what with no exercise and just lounging around – who won’t gain weight? LOL. Speaking of food, I miss Tita Jane’s spaghetti.
I wonder when I’ll be allowed to go back there again.
Here are a few of the photos we took during our stay there. Enjoy!
Paris Hilton might be looking for BFFs but I have a BFF that she might want to meet too. My BFF is much more richer than Paris Hilton. He has given me life and a wonderful family. He has given me the best man. He has given me the best kind of friends. He has taught me a lot of lessons in life. He is always there when I need him, He doesn’t let me down and I know He never will. He gives me everything I want as long as it’s going to be for my betterment. He showers me with countless gifts, most of them priceless. He always listens to my rantings. Even if people don’t read every post of my blog I really don’t care because I know that He is always reading my blog posts although He doesn’t leave me a comment. LOL. He knows me better than everyone else. I can enumerate and list down countless things that my best friend is doing for me, but I can’t remember them all and it might take a lot of time but what matters is that He knows I appreciate everything that He’s done for me. I know I am not the “best” best friend but still he doesn’t give up on me. He’s still always there. Thank you so much Jesus – for being my best friend.
Well I just got home after hearing Mass at our Parish. I attended the 5AM Mass which was celebrated by Monsignor Gamboa. I am not used to going to church that early but I made an exception this time because my Singles for Christ community is the scheduled choir for the Mass. Last night we practiced the songs we will sing for the Mass until 10PM then I slept for like a couple of hours only because when I arrived home I had to do my daily tasks and then prepare my clothes for the Mass before I went to bed. I have trouble sleeping at night because being the nocturnal creature that I am – I’m used to working the night shift. But I did what I always do whenever I have trouble sleeping. And I will recommend this to everyone too! It has been one of my secrets but I decided to write it here in my blog so that people reading my posts will also discover this awesome cure for insomnia and be much closer to God as well. I talk to Jesus if I have trouble sleeping. Now how can I talk to Jesus? Well it’s this way – I don’t just pray, I also have a conversation with Jesus. Although He is not “answering” me I know and feel that He’s listening to me. I tell Him all the things I did on that day. I tell Him my worries, my problems. I thank Him for everything. I give Him praise. And I ask for His guidance for the next day again.Try it tonight, having a lengthy conversation with God instead of just praying will give you a peaceful mind therefore make you sleep peacefully as well.
Singing in the choir with SFC is just one of my ways of thanking Jesus and giving back. I know that it’s just a minor thing compared to everything He’s done for me but still in my own little ways I show Him my love and thanks. I just hope I will be with Him in heaven too. Make Jesus your best friend too starting today! I know you won’t regret it. After all, who wants paparazzis following you every second when your BFF is Paris Hilton right?
