Ogtonganons have something to be proud of again today. The 4th Fiber Fashion Fair at SM City Event Center showcased Oton’s indigenous product – the “hablon”.

After a day of staying at home because of typhoon Mina (thank God the rain stopped or else we might have experienced flooding as well), Tim and I decided to get out of the house and take advantage of the great weather.

Hablon and other products of Oton.

I am so blessed to be living in Oton, one of the attractive rural communities in Iloilo. Oton is a first class municipality in the province of Iloilo, about 30 minutes west of the city. I get to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city then go home to my lovely, quiet town at the end of the day. We’ve been living here for 11 years now (we used to live in Jaro). And so far I am loving my life here.

**This is a re-post of Hon. Juan Miguel Flores’ post on Facebook. I am a proud Ogtonganon and I hope this will reach some Ogtonganons as well. This will really help our parish. Two thumbs up to Migs for taking care of our church and its surroundings. We need more people like you!  And like I said on Facebook – just keep on doing what you’re doing, there will always be people willing to help an honest person who has honest goals.

The Future Pastoral Center

If the parish of Molo has a solemn place for wakes, Jaro has a sociable place for wedding receptions, Oton has nothing. IT’S TIME!

Prominently called as our parish “social hall”, we are now in the process of gathering help and raising funds to build a new parish “pastoral center”.

After I finished casting my vote, Tim and I decided to go to town to have lunch at Allan’s Talabahan. This is one of the “tourist attactions” of Oton. In my opinion, they serve the best talabas in Iloilo. But don’t listen to me though, I may be biased because I live in Oton. Haha! But nothing compares to Allan’s baked talaba! It’s the best! Allan’s Talabahan is located at J.C. Zulueta Street and they will open a branch at Anhawan Beach Resort and Spa soon.

So are you craving for talaba and seafood? Come visit Oton!
