So today I’m going to write about our first day in Boracay. This post has been long overdue but I had a ton of tasks to do and I also did some studying (for what, you don’t have to know right now..haha). Boracay is the most popular summer getaway here in the Philippines and it’s also popular with tourists from other countries because of its unique white sand beach. Boracay is actually known as the ” Paradise Island of the Philippines.” And if you’ve ever been there you already know why. To those who haven’t yet well you have to go there to know why. LOL. For now feel free to read my Boracay experience. ;)

I have been to Boracay once when I was still a kid but I don’t remember much about it only that I went there together with my relatives from Antique. This time, Tim invited us to go with him because their company has a branch located there and he’s going to do some IT fixing so he asked me if I wanna come with him. Of course I want to! But the two of us can’t go alone so we invited my brother – Sev and his girlfriend Dianne to come along with us as well. They also deserve a much needed vacation, especially Dianne who has just resigned from the Box and working hard for her new boss. She needs to have a vacation, like me. Right Yan? Hehe.

On the morning of the 29th of April at 4AM the four of us met up. Then we had an almost 6-hour bus ride to Caticlan, Aklan – the gateway to Boracay and lastly the ferry ride to the island. We arrived at around half past 1PM. I told Tim that I wanted a hotel or resort at the beachfront so we checked in at Queen’s Beach Resort. The room we got was not cheap but it was so worth it. The staff of the hotel was all also very polite. And we had complimentary breakfasts on the duration of our stay. I highly recommend them to all my friends and acquaintances who are planning to go to Boracay too. Here is the link to Queen’s Beach Resort’s website so you could check them out. I promise you won’t regret staying there. Maybe you’ll get the chance to meet Kim too! Who’s Kim? Long story. Hehe.

So after checking in at Queen’s Beach Resort, we decided to go out, see the sights and eat lunch! We agreed to eat at somewhere not too expensive at first (so we could splurge for dinner that night) therefore we went to the Talipapa where we ate at a turo-turo restaurant that serves Filipino dishes. We were actually told that we can choose any of the uncooked fishes and other “sea creatures” displayed outside then they will cook them for us, whatever “luto” we want but we decided not to because then we have to wait and we were too hungry already and too excited to explore Boracay. The food was satisfactory but sadly I forgot the name of the place but it has the words “Turo Turo” in it.

After lunch, we walked around first then Dianne and I decided to check out our emails and do our jobs so we’ll have more time to go out that night. Tim also went to their branch to get some work done. While Sev of course went with us. We found an internet cafe located in a new building behind the talipapa near our resort – but not after a lot of walking. Hahaha! By the way, to those who don’t know what the Talipapa is, it’s kind of like the marketplace in Boracay where different types of stores are located. There are small restaurants there, coffee shops, internet cafes, and kiosks where one can buy souvenirs, “pasalubongs” and other tons of stuffs! Prices of goods are cheaper here compared to the stores at the beachfront and you can haggle with the sellers too if you know how! ;)

Then after working at the internet cafe, we decided to go back to the resort and change clothes for the beach! The three of us – Dianne, Sev and I had a dip at the beautiful and clean beach of Boracay. It’s amazing that many people come there but the beach is still clean. Their environmentalists must be working really hard. Hehehe. They should because before we boarded the ferryboat to Boracay Island we had to pay an expensive environmental fee.

After the dip at the beach, we went back to our big room to get some rest before going out again to find a place to eat dinner. Tim was back from their branch office too. We set up Tim’s laptop, which we brought along with our portable SmartBro Prepaid Kit so Dianne and I could also get some work done. Then we watched some show on the cable TV – and I fell asleep. Hehe.  Later that night they woke me up. We looked for a place to eat. We found this place beside the beach again that offered a sumptuous buffet dinner for Php200/person. We had fun while choosing the food we want to eat because we didn’t know if we’ll speak Tagalog or Hiligaynon to the servers, waiters, etc. Only to find out afterward that the chefs and the staffs were just from La Salle – Bacolod where Tim also graduated. So they speak Hiligaynon. Yeeeey! Hahaha! So they got to give us some tips on what food to eat. Mainly not too much rice. LOL. And the chefs and the others were on their OJT (on the job training). To make the story short, we had a delicious dinner. We were full because we ate what our stomachs can hold so again went for a walk on the beach to check out the nightlife and take some photos! After all that we went back to our room at the resort to get some rest. We watched shows on TV again, did some tasks and went to sleep so we’ll be ready for another great day!

And here are some photos to go with this post.

***Boracay – Day 2 is up next guys so stay tuned! These posts will give you an idea of what to do and where to go in Boracay!

the dream cellphone..

Yesterday my phone broke! Technically it’s not really my cellphone, it’s my brother – Vinboy’s cellphone but I’m the one whose using it because I need it more than him. I use it to communicate with everyone. And most importantly I use it for my work. My cellphone, the one I was using before I had to borrow Vinboy’s, was also broken because I wasn’t taking care of it. I mean I don’t use it properly. I charge it anytime I want even if the battery is not yet low or dead. And I leave it charging for more than 8 hours sometimes because I just leave it there while I sleep. So that’s some of the reasons why I was using my brother’s phone. And I’m really sorry I broke it. But I will try to have it fixed of course so he can still use it.

I’ve been using my old cellphone (before it broke)  for more than 2 years so I guess it’s about time that I buy myself a new one. I’ve been wanting a Nokia 6300 phone ever since I saw it online. FYI – it was the best selling cellphone in the UK  for more than a year after it was released. And it’s still one of the most well-loved phones of today. I really like slim phones so that’s why it caught my attention. And its specifications are also way up there! It’s stylish, classical and very high quality too. But I couldn’t afford it before because there were more important things than buying a new phone.

Yesterday I didn’t have a cellphone. I didn’t know what to do! I wasn’t even able to sleep. I kept thinking how I can communicate with Tim and my friends and everyone! And I couldn’t even access my Chikka account! I can’t register with other free text sites because I won’t be able to verify it without my cellphone number. Thankfully there’s the INTERNET! The joy of emailing and instant messaging. I wouldn’t have survived without it. I asked for help from my friends who were online. I asked JonhaR, Teddy and my other brother – Sev(who was in school and also thankfully online) to text Tim and inform him that I sent him an email and could he go online so we could IM as well. So around 4PM Tim finally got online. He was out traveling again so that’s what took him so long to IM me. I told him about what happened to my bro’s phone. And he suggested that I use his phone instead. To make the long story short, we asked Sev if he could pick up Tim’s cellphone after his class. Sev agreed and he arrived around 9PM with Tim’s cellphone. Then I was able to text! Tim has a spare phone  by the way, his old beat up Nokia (forgot what unit) which is still functioning.

And you know what the first message I received was? It was from Miss Lareza of Callbox’s Human Resources Department telling me that I can get my backpay the next day (which is today). I immediately thanked the Lord after reading that text! He really loves me. He doesn’t want me and my job to suffer. He has perfect timing. Or a great sense of humor. I think he wanted to test my patience and how I will handle the situation – a day without a cellphone (naks!). Just to clear things up – I’m not materialistic okay. I just need certain stuffs for my daily life.

So today, I bought myself my dream phone after getting my backpay from Callbox! I’m learning how to use it right now. And I’m loving every single part of it. It’s more than I expected. Again I thank the Lord for always making a way. And for all the blessings he has given me. I’m so blessed!

Yes Man

200px-yesman2008poster Tim and I watched Yes Man earlier. I didn’t expect to enjoy this movie because I didn’t really like its trailer but hey I enjoyed it! As usual, we didn’t have plans to watch it but because we can’t think of anything else to do we just decided to watch Yes Man. Tim is going home tomorrow to Kabankalan because he’s going to attend the funeral of his Tita and he won’t be back until the 15th (my birthday) so we kinda like celebrated Valentine’s Day today.

As always, Jim Carrey is a great actor and he didn’t fail to make us laugh. Although he exaggerates/overacts sometimes. Yes Man is an American comedy film directed by Peyton Reed and starring Jim Carrey as Carl Allen and Zooey Deschanel as Allison. The film is based on the true story and 2005 book The Yes Man by British humourist Danny Wallace (who has a brief cameo in the film). Well I learned a lot of things from this movie. One is too enjoy life to the fullest and to not live inside a box. To be SPONTANEOUS and unpredictable ( I like being unpredictable). And to be imaginative. I myself don’t really like to live a boring life. That’s why I take risks. That’s why I hate boring people. That’s why I love my bebeh. :)

I learned a lot of things about Jim Carrey too. And I admire the guy more than ever. In the movie there was a part there that he bungee jumped from a bridge and I was telling my bebeh that I am pretty sure that Jim Carrey did his own stunt and I was right! He bungee jumped from that bridge himself! And did you know that Jim Carrey also knows how to play the guitar? In fact he’s been playing the guitar since he was a little boy. And he also learned basic Korean for a scene. He spoke the language really well, I give him credit for that.

So that’s it guys. If you haven’t watched this movie yet then I recommend that you do because you won’t regret it. Even most of the critics from Rotten Tomatoes liked the movie and gave it positive reviews.

I’m going back to work now. Thanks to a week’s rest and being idle because of my lack of internet connection made it kinda hard for me to go back to my sleeping pattern and made great damage to my work and my wallet. Well if I don’t work I won’t get any payments. If I don’t earn money then I won’t be able to finance my dreams. I have to earn in order for me to also live my life to the fullest right? That’s the reality.

Ooops by the way guys I have started utilizing my Flickr account as you might have noticed on the right hand side of my blog so if you wanna see more photos of me, my friends, my bebeh, my family, my cousins, relatives, EVERYONE, everything and anything — just check out my Flickr photostream okay? Okay!

And I’m hooked to Beyonce’s songs right now. I keep repeating “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies.” And have you heard of  FM Static‘s song entitled “Tonight”? It’s a really nice song. Teens in the Philippines love it. Also I was reminded of Third Eye Blind’s “Jumper” because it was featured in the movie Yes Man. So these are the songs I’m listening to right now. Alright I’m really going back to work right now. TTYL! :D
