Ferns Tosco singing Island Called Boracay

I finally have an acceptable video of Ferns Tosco singing “Island Called Boracay” live! Here she is at her final audition for Kanta Pilipinas, TV 5′s upcoming musical reality search. I seldom watch tv, much less reality shows, but if Ferns gets to be one of the final contestants of this show, I will definitely watch it everyday! Even join the voting process! Haha!

By the way to learn more about Ferns Tosco please read my previous blog posts about her in the links below:

So for now, enjoy Ferns’ amazing voice in all its raw beauty! The judges, Ilonggo audience and of course Tim (who took this video) enjoyed listening to Ferns! While the other contestants only sang once or worse were stopped in the middle of a song – Ferns was asked to sing twice! Yes twice – by the awesome judges! She sang her other composition, “Broken Home”. We will be uploading a video of that soon too so please watch out for it.

Tim and I are super thrilled that Ferns made it to the finals! Kanta Pilipinas watch out for Ferns Tosco! Woot!

By the way sorry for the poor quality of the video. But the audio is really good though. Just listen and be amazed. :)

America in 3D Iloilo - Green Screen Photo with Jay De Jesus

America in 3D, a road show by the U.S. Embassy in Manila highlighting “Diplomacy, Development and Defense,” is currently taking place at SM City Iloilo until tomorrow March 4. All of the activities and presentations during this three day event are open to the public and free of charge.

U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett opened the three-day extravaganza at SM City Iloilo’s Atrium last Friday morning. She was joined by Iloilo Governor Arthur D. Defensor, Sr., and Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog.

America in 3D is a celebration of Filipino-American friendship, showcasing American culture, U.S. businesses and U.S. Embassy services in the Philippines. The public will enjoy dance and musical performances presenting the best of America – from ballroom to blues to Broadway and even hip-hop. The U.S. Navy’s high energy rock-and-roll band, the Orient Express, will perform your favorite hits during America in 3D. Don’t miss the free samples of American food, or the exibit of American cars and motorbikes. Visitors to the event can find out about all of the ways that the U.S. and the Philippines are connected – and learn how to do business with the U.S., apply for a U.S. Visa, and even study in the United States.

“Environment advocates, economic experts converge to tackle the real impact of mining in the Philippines”

Ponder this: If mining is so good for the economy, then why are mining communities among the poorest in the country?

This blogger is also undoubtedly against mining. So if you are too then please join us on February 25, Saturday at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo for the Visayan Conference on Mining and Ecology and learn how members of local government units in the Visayas region are taking actions to discuss with economists, environmentalists, and other key personalities the real economic and ecological impact of mining in the country, just days before the Aquino administration declares a new mining policy for the country.

Let’s help each other preserve our environment!
