Pan-ay, originally called Bamban, was established in 1572. The first church, constructed in 1774 by Fr. Miguel Murguia, was heavily damaged by typhoon in 1875. The present church was constructed in 1884 under the direction of Fr. Jose Beloso who commissioned Don Juan Reine to cast a bell for the church from seventy sacks of coins donated by the townspeople. This bell, the biggest in the Philippines, measures seven feet in diameter, five feet in height and weighs 10,400 kilograms.

By virtue of NHI Board Resolution No. 3, S. 1997, this church is declared a National Historical Landmark.

Here’s another installment of our Boracay weekend getaway last July. On our second day we did one of the most enjoyable activities while in Boracay Island, Philippines – the Marine Walk. Marine Walk is a helmet diving system that has been designed for the ultimate underwater experience. We literally walked under the sea, surrounded by fascinating marine life, live corals, and colorful tropical fishes!

I finally know how a ball feels after riding the Zorb in Boracay last July.  The Zorb is a new extreme adrenaline rush activity in Boracay and all I can say is that I am definitely doing it again next time I’m there! It’s so much fun riding down a hill harnessed inside a giant plastic ball. If you are craving for a natural high this is one of the best ways to experience it.

Bondoc's Viewing Deck Bar and Resto

I went to San Jose, Antique again yesterday to visit Papang and be a day earlier for my preliminary exams earlier today. I arrived around 4PM so I had plenty of time to waste after visiting Papang. While waiting for my cousin Meg to arrive, I decided to text and call some of my pretty cousins to accompany me to Bondoc’s Viewing Deck Bar and Resto. We went there right after we visited Papang, Lolo Mamang and Lolo Papang.

We went on a day trip to Guimaras yesterday. I have been to Guimaras countless times but this was the first time that I was able to go island hopping, snorkeling and see/touch turtles in Lawi! We went to Ave Maria Island, it had a white sand beach though not as white as Boracay’s but much better because it was quieter and ideal for relaxation. After a couple of hours of lounging at the beach we went back to Raymen’s Beach Resort (that’s where we ate lunch when we arrived by the way). Before going home we went by Trappist Monastery. Of course we didn’t forget to buy Guimaras’ super sweet mangoes! I really had an awesome time with Eric, Junnjun and Nang Ethel! Til next time!
