Mistakes are our best teachers. I have learned to travel light the hard way by packing too much and having to haul it all over the place. So now I travel with just very little stuff. Last month I went to 4 different cities in Negros Occidental with nothing but my carry-on backpack and my camera bag. So right now I always ask myself beforehand, “Jane, would you rather put on a fashion show for other people, or would you rather be able to get from one place to another without hiring a bulldozer for all of your junk?”
It is really miserable having to carry around heavy bags through airports, hotel lobbies, down streets, into buses, and here and there. It is so miserable that I have refused to do it again. Simple living and traveling are both about having freedom and you cannot have freedom when you are literally loaded down. So here are some tips on how to pack light.
One of my Daily Affirmations these days is this: “I AM GOING TO GRADUATE NEXT YEAR – 2012)!” So my blog post today is related to that. This is my way of giving back to my school – and my beautiful aunt – who has helped me this past couple of years. This is how much I believe in the Distance Learning Program of the University of Antique (UA).
Another reason for this blog post is because I’ve had a lot of people contact me (via email and the contact page of this blog) about how it’s like to study in the distance learning program. And also because of an old blog post I wrote 2 years ago about a popular college that offers distance education which I shall not name. Not all distance learning programs are created equal. There are some common barriers to learning in distance education that can make a distance learning program unsuccessful. It’s important to know some of the basic advantages and disadvantages of using distance learning for college education. So how does the University of Antique Distance Learning Program stack up? Here are the things you need to know:
So here are the things you need to know about the University of Antique’s Distance Learning Program.
My cousin Knij is a member of the Kontemporaryong Gamelan Pilipino or more popularly known as Kontra-GaPi of the University of the Philippines-Diliman and in lieu of the National Arts Month Celebration they were invited by the UPV Chancellors Committee for Culture and the Arts to perform at SM City Iloilo Events Center today February 27th, 2011.
First of all let me get one thing straight – I am not in any way affiliated with DLSU. I did not study in any of their schools – period.
I am just blogging about their hymn – the reggae version.
If you’re a frequent visitor of my blog you’ll know that I am an avid listener of reggae music and I am one of Bob Marley’s millions of fans. Reggae music makes me groove to it. Reggae music helps me chill and relax. So when Tim shared with me a song from his phone I was immediately curious as to who sang it and what the title of the song is. The beat is great and only after I listened to the lyrics well and after Tim told me did I knew that it was the reggae version of the Lasallian Alma Mater Hymn. Tim by the way is a graduate of the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod. He doesn’t usually talk of his alma mater but he shared with me the hymn. I think because he also finds it cool. I don’t know about the other stuffs he doesn’t talk about though.
So after I transferred the song to my phone via bluetooth I made it my ring tone. It really is cool and to those who haven’t heard it yet I have the video below. I tried to look for the name of the group who sang this but Google is not cooperating with me. So if you any of you know who the cool guys on the video are please share it with me by leaving a comment so I can properly thank and attribute the song to them.
By the way, I was also looking for my high school alma mater’s hymn but I couldn’t find anything about it online. Do any of you have an audio copy of Colegio de San Jose‘s college hymn? I have the lyrics (Spanish and English) but I also would like to have an audio copy.
Back to the topic, here’s the Lasallian Alma Mater Hymn – Reggae Version.
