After typhoon Ondoy ravaged Manila last week, the Singles for Christ still decided to not postpone the scheduled Oct. 2-4 regional conference which was held at Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. The conference’s theme was “The Christ Pursuit.”

Even the heavy rains did not stop the SFC and CFC family from praising and worshipping God. We prayed for everyone who were affected by Ondoy and Pepeng. And we also thanked the Lord for protecting us and our families. We were enlightened during that weekend, thanks to the speakers and lecturers. Special thanks to Fr. Xavier Olin, SJ for allowing us to take a deeper look at ourselves, what our purpose in life is and why we should pursue Christ.

Here are some photos I took of the fulfilling event.

Paradiso Beach Resort is located at Hinigaran, Negros Occidental. This was the venue of the Singles for Christ Regional Conference – Western Visayas that we attended. Here are some photos I took of the resort – when it wasn’t raining. And this is also my first attempt at editing photos so please bear with the ‘greenness.’  :D

This post is once again long overdue. Last weekend September 5th-7th, Tim, my brother Rino John and I once again went to Kabankalan and Bacolod. We attended Alex’s birthday. Alex is Tim’s nephew. We had so much fun! Alex now likes me. The first time that I went there he kinda didn’t. Lol. I got to meet Tim’s brother and brother in law for the first time too and they were really nice. :)

And I finally got to go to Calea and taste some of their infamous cakes, pastries and coffees! I brought home a three layed chocolate caramel cake which the Calea girl said is imported. Imported from where I didn’t ask. Lol. Calea didn’t dissapoint me at all. I am definitely going back there when I get another chance. I would like to thank my very patient tour guide – Tim for finding an open branch because the first Calea branch we went to is closed on Mondays so we went to their Robinson’s Mall brach which was thankfully open. And then when it was time for us to go home we decided to try out Supercat. They reopened their operations I think a couple of weeks ago. They have a much cleaner vessel and we were really comfortable. The fastcraft didn’t even feel the waves. I think it’s because the way the  fastcraft is built. I took some photos and you can find them below.

Enough talk.  Let the pictures say it all! :D

First of all let me get one thing straight – I am not in any way affiliated with DLSU. I did not study in any of their schools – period.

I am just blogging about their hymn – the reggae version. :D

If you’re a frequent visitor of my blog you’ll know that I am an avid listener of reggae music and I am one of  Bob Marley’s millions of fans. Reggae music makes me groove to it. Reggae music helps me chill and relax. So when Tim shared with me a song from his phone I was immediately curious as to who sang it and what the title of the song is. The beat is great and only after I listened to the lyrics well and after Tim told me did I knew that it was the reggae version of the  Lasallian Alma Mater Hymn. Tim by the way is a graduate of the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod. He doesn’t usually talk of his alma mater but he shared with me the hymn. I think because he also finds it cool. I don’t know about the other stuffs he doesn’t talk about though. :P

So after I transferred the song to my phone via bluetooth I made it my ring tone. It really is cool and to those who haven’t heard it yet I have the video below. I tried to look for the name of the group who sang this but Google is not cooperating with me. So if you any of you know who the cool guys on the video are please share it with me by leaving a comment  so I can properly thank and attribute the song to them.

By the way, I was also looking for my high school alma mater’s hymn but I couldn’t find anything about it online. Do any of you have an audio copy of Colegio de San Jose‘s  college hymn? I have the lyrics (Spanish and English) but I also would like to have an audio copy.

Back to the topic, here’s the Lasallian Alma Mater Hymn – Reggae Version.

“Lasallian Alma Mater Hymn”

Hail, Hail

Alma Mater,

Hail to De La Salle!

We’ll hold your banner high and bright,

A shield of green and white,

We’ll fight to keep your glory bright,

And never shall we fail,

Hail to thee our Alma Mater!

Hail! Hail! Hail!

I have been wanting to meet fellow bloggers ever since I became a member of  IloiloBloggers.com. And last Saturday – July 4th at the Casino Filipino PAGCOR Bacolod I was able to meet my fellow Ilonggo bloggers! And not only that – we got to network with other bloggers from Bacolod and the Negros Island too. Add to that meeting Ms. Janette Toral in person! The event we attended was the DigitalFilipino Club & Bloggers Meet-Up which was hosted by Casino Filipino PAGCOR Bacolod.  Obviously it’s the first  bloggers networking event I have attended so I was curious what the turn out would be. It was a huge success because Casino Filipino Bacolod provided us with a delicious dinner, beer and an awesome band! Of course the freebies was one of the best parts of the night. Most of us were lucky to bring home cool stuffs given away by PAGCOR and some of us won in the raffle too. We also got to learn about the current status of the Philippine e-commerce and the blogosphere  from Ms. Janette Toral. Some online social network users and business owners attended as well to learn a thing or two about blogging from the seasoned bloggers and SEO professionals. Hope they learned something from the event and be inspired to make a blog of their own too!

Miss Janette Toral encouraged us to participate on the following activities of the DigitalFilipino Club:

And guess what guys! I have finally proven that my online friends are real! Weeeeee! Which means it really is possible to make relationships online and of course nurture it by having the proper online ethics and attitude. So yes I finally got to meet Junelle of Pinay SEO (she owns a lot of blogs), Marcos of Explore Iloilo, Junnjun of JunntrekkerDonald of Don_Ser, and Mommy Ruby of Pinay Mommy Online! It was also nice meeting Marie Claire of Maditang Pinay and Enrico Dee of Byahilo – I am a frequent visitor of their blogs.  And it was nice to see Ace again who was  a co-worker from Callbox and Tim’s classmate.  Tim got to meet his college teacher Neil Alado as well. And it was really cool to meet other bloggers from Bacolod too. Thank you for making us feel welcome guys, after all it was your meet-up not ours but still you welcomed us. We really appreciate it. Too bad Efren, Bernie and the other Iloilo Bloggers weren’t able to go. But once we have our own meet-up we’ll have fun too.

I have proven to myself that blogging is not boring because of this kind of events. As bloggers we can also  share our lives offline! I am hoping to meet more Ilonggo bloggers on our very own upcoming meet-up this August. It’s time we get ourselves organized. Hopefully everyone will cooperate and share their time. Thank you very much to Ms. Janette Toral, the DigitalFilipino Club and Casino Filipino PAGCOR Bacolod for hosting the networking event last Saturday. This will pave our way to having our own events here in Iloilo and I know it’s going to be the same in Bacolod. Hopefully we could get sponsors here. So until then see you all online and until the next event!

Here’s a glimpse of the event:
